Atria Dawn Preview is an open-weight model released by Shanghai AI Laboratory in September 2026, built on a large mixture-of-experts foundation model and aimed at long-horizon agentic work rather than short back-and-forth chat. Instead of answering a single question, it's designed to carry a task all the way through — finding relevant research, writing and running code, producing documents or presentations, or analyzing a security flaw — checking its own progress and using tools along the way over many steps. It was released under a permissive open-source license, making it free for others to download, inspect, and build on.
