Gemma is Google DeepMind's family of smaller open-weight models, built from the same research as Gemini and intended for developers to download, run, and fine-tune themselves. It is offered in multiple sizes and in both base and instruction-tuned variants, light enough to run on consumer hardware. Gemma gives Google an entry in the open-model ecosystem alongside its flagship Gemini.
