PCIe Gen5
The current mainstream PCIe generation, offering higher bandwidth for AI servers.
Definition
PCIe Gen5 is the fifth-generation version of the PCIe bus, providing roughly double the bandwidth of the previous generation for connecting GPUs, accelerators, and storage to a CPU. It is the common interconnect in current AI servers, helping reduce the cost of moving data on and off the accelerators. Faster GPU-to-GPU links such as NVLink still sit alongside it for tightly coupled multi-GPU work.
