Qwen3 is the third major generation of Alibaba's Qwen language model family. Its defining feature is a hybrid reasoning design: a single model can switch between a thinking mode that works step by step through hard tasks and a fast direct-response mode, letting users control how much computing effort to spend. The family spans small models up to a large mixture-of-experts model (which routes each request to only the relevant parts), is released openly, and can use external tools and many languages.
