Definition
Anthropic is a US AI safety company founded in 2021 by former OpenAI staff including Dario and Daniela Amodei. It develops the Claude family of models, introduced Constitutional AI (a method that trains a model using a written set of guiding principles), created the Model Context Protocol (a standard way to connect models to outside tools and data), and publishes research on interpretability (understanding why a model behaves as it does) and alignment (keeping AI behavior in line with human intent). It is one of the leading top-tier AI labs alongside OpenAI and Google DeepMind.
