Cerebras
An AI hardware company that uses an entire silicon wafer as a single giant processor.
Definition
Cerebras is an AI hardware company, founded in 2016, that takes an unconventional approach to chip design. Instead of cutting a wafer into many small chips, its Wafer Scale Engine uses the whole wafer as a single processor with hundreds of thousands of cores and large on-chip memory. This avoids much of the communication overhead of stringing together many separate GPU chips for certain training and model-running jobs, sold through Cerebras Cloud.
