Definition

Liquid cooling moves heat away from chips using a circulating fluid instead of forced air, either piped directly to a cold plate on each chip (direct-to-chip) or by submerging hardware entirely (immersion). As GPU power densities have climbed, air cooling struggles to keep pace, so liquid cooling has become common in large-scale training clusters and high-performance inference servers.
